The site is organised to provide graded access and a clear progression through the various attractions. The requirements of children and disabled are integral to the design, as is the scale appropriate to miniature animals. The use of ha-ha’s and exploitation of natural level changes provides a minimum sense of enclosure.

The restaurant is designed as a small core appropriate to low season use, which expands into covered areas and terraces to accommodate summer numbers. The new buildings are of stone and timber externally, to match and blend in with existing, and to meet a tight budget.
