A large rambling village house, surrounded by its gardens, but in poor order, dark and impractical. The alterations were designed to reinstate the earlier character by removing later accretions and to create space and let in light by careful re-ordering of non-historic elements. Later additions were replaced by more sympathetic outshots and covered areas which added functionality to the layout and links to the garden. Key family rooms were restored to the heart of the house. The history of the building remains evident in a series of different features, strapwork to Victorian sash windows, all carefully restored.
